When Leela first joined Saheli Center around three years ago, she walked six kilometres back and forth each day to learn her stitching techniques. After returning home, she would practice her stitching skills on her sewing machine to perfect her technique. A few months later, Leela and her supportive husband decided to move to central Bhikamkor, a village in rural Rajasthan where IPHD India's Saheli Women ethical fashion enterprise is based, and she now has a much more manageable commute.
Today, Saheli Women is proud to call her one of their best stitchers, and Tulasii is proud to have Leela oversee our beautiful Jali robes, made in small batches with Saheli Women as part of our commitment to ethical fashion, made with a purpose and a tale to tell.
