Sourced personally by us during our many stays in one of India’s holiest of towns, where the traditional handicrafts from the desert tribes of Rajasthan and Gujarat fill the nooks and alleyways, this bag has been hand selected for its incredible beauty, quality and embellishments.
This Banjara bag has been designed in the ‘banana’ style, to be worn as a sling over the shoulder, and can be opened out to full length (see images). Featuring rich and colourful stitching and heavy mirror work, this bag is like a piece of wearable art. Handmade, handcrafted, bohemian style that carries the traditional beauty of the desert tribes through to a modern fashion statement.
Our Banjara bags are made from genuine vintage textiles, some dating over 20 years old, so any imperfections should be embraced as traces of history and the beauty of the adorned women who once wore them. Some have raw edges and some with cracked or missing mirrors or semi-loose stitching on areas of the design. All are excellent quality, even still. Every piece is completely one-off and unique - no two are the same. These are treasured pieces, to be worn and loved.
Base colour: Red / Orange (see images for more details as these bags are multi-coloured)
Embellishments: Mirrorwork, embroidery, pom poms, tassels
58cm length of the bag body
125cm strap to strap
Note: Many of our products have been sourced from fair trade artisans, with each piece made by hand. Slight imperfections, if any, are all a part of the character of Tulasii's collections - artisans items with a tale to tell.
