An oversized organic cotton scarf is designed as part of INDU Editions by Tulasii in collaboration with a 5th generation family-run group of block printing artisans in Bagru, a traditional block printing village near Jaipur in Rajasthan, India.
Soma's design began on our last trip back to Bagru where we worked alongside our block printing team to combine two contrasting blocks - a simple stripe that bears the rough-edged and organic charm of the woodblock carver's knife, with the heavy and bold triangular border to give it a modern edge. Printed on natural organic cotton using soft black mineral dye.
We produce all of our block print scarves in small batches, all ethically made with each design hand block printed using natural, sustainable non-toxic dyes (100% natural colours derived from plants and minerals).
All of our oversized organic cotton block print scarves double as a sarong or wrap (perfect for travel, in keeping with the Tulasii ethos). They sit just as beautifully in the home as a decorative wall hanging or bed runner.
We support fair wages, skills training, ethical working conditions, and sustainable practices through these collaborations.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Perfectly imperfect is the signature of Bagru block printing.
Due to the handmade nature of these pieces, colour and pattern variations may occur and some pieces may bear traces of the printer's table and dyeing and washing process, including minor scuffs/markings. Any minor flaws can be expected and should be celebrated as a mark of the maker behind it. This is why we love our products: no pieces are the same, yet every piece has been made by hand, with love (and a whole lot of heart and soul).
CARE: We recommend hand washing in cold water and drying in the shade (strictly no tumble drying!). Warm iron is ok. Do not use harsh chemicals (these fabrics are made from the earth and should be loved and respected in-kind).
